Marone recalled that Friedmann would claim that he’d committed crimes for which he’d never been caught, including robbing banks. Marone wondered if these stories were true. After Friedmann joined Hall’s advisory group, he and Marone discussed the new jail. Marone said, “He would say things like ‘I wonder how hard this one’s going to be to get out of.’ ”
